LA Sunset Street Shoot
Around our show launch in Los Angeles I did manage to squeeze in one little shoot with the wonderful Nicole @flowerhitsthebigtime and Christian Klein. The whole thing was shot on film, on a warm February evening around some streets in LA. We had to stop traffic and chase the sun, but had a great time getting these images!
Me and Nicole were mutual followers of each other on Instagram and decided to meet up on one of my earlier trips to LA - we got on great and I really enjoyed her vibe and energy and we stayed in touch ever since, so we made another date to hang out and shoot some of the new pieces whilst I was in town.
I sent Nicole the collection to view online, she picked out several pieces that she had styling ideas for, and once I got to her apartment with the selected garments, she started to whittle down looks and styled the pieces with items from her own wardrobe. Then we headed out in the car to shoot in the streets nearby.
Full disclosure, this was supposed to be a golden hour shoot, but I drastically underestimated LA traffic and spent too long chilling on Malibu beach that afternoon, the 45 min journey out there took 2.5 hours to get back from!
BUT we raced against the setting sun and in what is definitely the quickest shoot I have ever done, we managed to get all these pictures in one hour!
Amazing skills from Christian - considering these were all shot on film, unable to use the view finder to see how they were coming out, we had no idea if the lack of light was going to result in wasted film or if we were going to capture some magical images.
It really was a race against time, as we drove round the blocks looking for spots that still had enough light, with Nicole getting changed in the back seat! But as the sun set, I think my favourite pictures from this collection are the ones with the headlights and the palm tree silhouette lined streets!
It got to a point where we did have to call it, as the sun sets pretty quick down there, so we headed back to the apartment and shared some wine, ordered yummy vegan burgers and I got to play with their amazing pup Sam!
